Vision Board, 2014

We had our first session of 2014 at The Well on Saturday, and we made vision boards. I've made vision boards every couple of years for a long time now, but I thought it pretty interesting that when I "googled" vision boards this time, I found several articles about why vision boards DON'T work. So it sent me off in a slightly different direction this year.

I began to consider the different layers of our lives and how so many of us live mostly on the periphery, the surface, never diving deeply into the inner landscape of our own soul. Maybe that's why a lot of vision boards don't work, so what might happen if we go beneath the surface and "catch the vision" from deep inside?

This was our jumping off place as we gathered Saturday and began to image our vision for 2014. See if these thoughts might help you catch your vision for this next year.

Catching the Vision

“May you know that you are ever embraced in the kind circle of God.” (Blessing, John O’Donohue, Eternal Echos)

Imagine “the kind circle of God”, picture yourself in the middle of that circle, what would be encircling you and embracing you this year? Image that.

“Each person's life is like a mandala- a vast, limitless circle. We stand in the center of our own
circle, and everything we see, hear and think forms the mandala of our life.” Pema Chodron

“In the beginning was the dream. In the eternal night where no dawn broke, the dream deepened. Before anything ever was, it had to be dreamed. Everything had its beginning in possibility. Every single thing is somehow the expression and incarnation of a thought. If a thing had never been thought, it could never be.” (John O’Donohue, Eternal Echos)

Ponder what these thoughts might mean to your own existence. Begin to imagine what the Dreamer might have imagined about and for you. Begin to fill that “kind circle of God” with images and words that express the potential of that dream.

"There is a life-force within your soul, seek that life.
There is a gem in the mountain of your body, seek that mine.
O traveler, if you are in search of that
Don’t look outside, look inside yourself and seek that." ~ Rumi
